Miami Sound Machine

I’m away at a conference in Florida for the week!

Today’s session was spent with Steve Kemble, event and wedding guru learning about trends of the wedding industry.  Once I get back to the “mainland.” I’ll be sure to share them all with you!

See you soon!

“Just Married” in Pennslyvania!

Here’s a sneak peek from when we eloped in Pennsylvania over the holidays!

Yes, I know we didn’t technically elope but it sounds so exciting!

We had such a fabulous time.  It was especially special that my family were able to share in our special day.

More of our winter wedding in the coming weeks!

Tablescape Friday: Henrietta’s Table

When I was deciding between photographers for my wedding this is the wedding that sold me on choosing Lisa Rigby Photography.  I love love love how fresh, organic and non-fussy the table is set.

My favorite weddings seem to be ones set in restaurants.  The best part of this is is that Henrietta’s Table is right up the street from us!

Real Wedding: Globe

One of the first things I thought when I saw this wedding over at Style Me Pretty was…”I gotta have it.”  I love the colors, the simplicity, the aura of Lindsay and Nick’s Wedding.

When people ask me why I’m having my wedding reception in a restaurant all I have to point them to is this wedding

Erin Beach describes the day, “This wedding was very simple but Natasha, of Waterlily Pond, helped make it elegant and completely unique. The 10 minute ceremony was held at the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, so minimal decor was needed for that space. They had none of the usual wedding rituals, no cake or first dance. The couple just wanted a small dinner (50 guests) to celebrate. They rented out the uber-urban Globe restaurant in downtown San Francisco where the two are regulars.”

This is EXACTLY what I am looking for in my wedding day.

Kate Rose Photography

I recently met the sweetest person at an NACE (National Association of Catering Executives) Event.  KATE ROSE!

Our personalities immediately clicked and we spent most of the night talking.  Katie is a brilliant photographer.  She is artistic, inspirational and has a way of capturing those sweet little moments.

Let her photographs speak for themselves.

I love the rustic wedding shots.  There is something about chipping paint against a pristine white wedding dress that is so perfect.

My Desire To Break Through.

How does one become an Event Designer?

via Style Me Pretty

For (7) years I have been working towards breaking through the Wedding & Event Industry.

I went to College for Event Planning, moved to San Francisco and became a Catering Manager detailing events of all kinds for a hotel along the famed Embarcadero, and then I moved to Boston becoming the Wedding Specialist at a top historic hotel.  Step by step I have edged closer to the goal.

Everyone is looking for experience.  The million dollar question is HOW.  Designers receive many emails inquiring about jobs so how do you set yourself apart?

via Style Me Pretty

I am getting to know more people in the industry which will definitely be of benefit.  I try to attend industry events and “network.”  I HATE networking for the purpose of trying to get something out of someone.  I am so not that person.  I would rather it happen naturally.

For some time, I thought I wanted to be a Wedding Planner.  After really sitting down and thinking about what I like about Weddings, I realized that it wasn’t the managing aspect that I was in love with but the overall look and design of the wedding.  I love the perfectly chosen flowers, I love the charm, the unique features of weddings, individual personality in the small details…this is what inspires me.

I’m in love creating “inspiration boards” as many people are.

My question to you is…was there ever something that you dreamed of doing but didn’t know how to get from A to B?
